Savannah Music Festival and Southbound Brewing Company collabed for the 2019 festival season to create a limited release festival beer. Wailin’ was the 5th beer made from this partnership, inspired by a shared love of live music and good beer. I was inspired to carry that into the can design, which features a hop as a guitar headstock and other musical elements. To represent historic Savannah, GA the background features an illustrated map of downtown.

The ones that didn’t make it
Here are six draft designs that explored other ideas, colors, or typography. These labels below helped solidify how the final Wailin’ label looked. This project was a journey and each one of these drafts represented a step towards the final design. By taking the design in different directions it helped determine what worked and what didn’t. For example early drafts below used colors such as red or orange, while later drafts used a green palette.
